Nakuru - Council of Governors chair, Isaac Ruto has said that he will run for the highest office in the land in 2022, contesting against deputy president William Ruto who is also expected to take over from President Kenyatta after the expiry of his two terms in office.
Speaking Monday during a fundraiser in aid of boda boda riders at Olengurone shopping center in Kuresoi south constituency, Rutto said he has already started preparing the ground and that nothing will stop him from gunning for Presidency in 2022.
“When time comes in 2022, you will be seeing my name on the big ballot paper because I will be seeking the big office in this land...nothing will stop me because just like any other Kenyan, I have a right to do so,” he said.

Rutto, who spoke in his native Kipsigis language, said the fact that deputy President Ruto will be in the race will not make him change his mind.
“It doesn’t mean that if I go asking for the big seat, the deputy President will be locked out of the race," he said.
Governor Rutto, who was once the strongest defender of deputy President, has of late become one of his fiercest critics in the vote-rich Rift valley region.
