Nyahururu - A Nyahururu court was Friday treated to a lighter drama when a middle-aged man claimed that he smoked bhang to keep off mosquitoes.
Peter Mureithi, a night guard at Maseno area in Subukia sub-County told resident magistrate Willy Cheruiyot that he was advised by a friend that bhang is a repellent to mosquitoes and would be of help during his night shift.
Mureithi further explained to the Magistrate that after burning the marijuana leaves, the smoke keeps off mosquitoes adding that bhang has kept him going since he quit on alcohol.
However, Mureithi pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him for a second time and insisted that the bhang he was alleged to possess was not his. He was released on KES 50 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
