Nakuru County Assembly speaker Susan Kihika has refuted claims that she urged Nakuru journalists to dress up in official attires when covering proceedings at the assembly.
The county assembly Speaker said it what was reported in one of the local daily newspaper last week was not true.
“At the end of the day we want the media to cover us and tell wananchi what we are doing here,” she said.
Speaking on Thursday at the assembly during the afternoon proceedings, Speaker Kihika said the article was misleading to the public.
She further called on journalists at the county to be objective in their reporting while pointing out that the scribes have a crucial role to play in uniting the public.
“Journalist should be objective in their reporting because they have a big role in building this county,” she said.
At the same time, the speaker said that the house will from next week start discussing the over KES 9 bilion county budget once it is table by the Nakuru county governor.
“Once the budget is brought to the table, we will go through it and so we hope all the county assembly members will avail themselves,” she noted.
