More than 500 residents of Bondeni estate in Nakuru received free medical treatment which was sponsored by money gram on Sunday.
According to Innocent Muturi who was the head of the project said their main target was women and children from the slum area.
“This medical camp is mainly targeting women and children from this area but we are also treating men as well,” he said.
Muturi added that the free medical camp was also working closely with Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital where he said some of the patients were being referred to for further check up.
He noted that, this year they chose to bring the free medical camp at Bondeni estate since the ward is densely populated with all the tribes.
“We opted to bring this project here because it is a cosmopolitan and also has high population that fitted well with our budget,” he said
adding that the free medical camp will be visiting Mombasa next year as they plan to make the project an annual event.
“Next year we are going to visit Mombasa because it is also a highly populated area," Muturi noted.
Speaking with the media moments after getting treated, Alice Akinyi a resident at Bondeni said that the medical camp was of great help to her.
