Hundreds face starvation as drought hits Kwale County

Kwale - Hunger is looming in Kwale County following the drought that has hit the county.
The residents have been hit with a food shortage and are now calling on the government to help them to address the situation.
Drought has hit the county leading to food shortage that has forced hundreds of residents to feed on roots of plants.
According to Taru ward representative Musa Ahmed, the long and persistent drought being experienced in the region needs a quick government intervention .
“I ask the government and other non- governmental organizations to come to the rescue of these people.The situation here is not good and people have been forced to eat roots since there is no food,” said Ahmed.
The residents claim that the county government has not allocated enough funds to cater for the drought which is now turning into a disaster.
