Kieni - A young man who worked as a houseboy has been convicted to 15 months in jail for stealing KES.300,000 from his employer.
Derrick Adzimu admitted stealing the amounts from Maina Wandere at Nyaribo area, Kieni on January 17, this year.
The court heard that the convict took the cash from his employer’s car and later escaped to his home in Busia.
Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Wekesa was told that police officers from Nyaribo police station found him in Busia following intensive investigations.
In his mitigation, the convict asked the court to be lenient while issuing the ruling claiming that he was the first born in a family of five siblings and happens to the bread winner.
He also informed the court that his wife was ailing while his son was suffering from epileptic disease.
However, in her ruling, the magistrate observed that although the court sympathized with him, the offence deserved a severe punishment.
