House help killed in a robbery attack

Kirinyaga - Fear has gripped Miringa-iri estate in Kerugoya town, Kirinyaga County after a house help was brutally murdered inside her employer’s house.
Her employer and a seven-month-old infant were also seriously injured by the gangsters who broke into their house shortly after 5.30 am Tuesday morning.
The assailants hit the house help with crude weapons on the head before attacking her employer who was nursing the infant in the bedroom.
It is said that before the ambush, they had raided another house within the neighborhood and made away with an assortment of household items.

Following the incident, police have arrested a couple found in possession of a high density mattress believed to have been stolen from the house.
An eyewitness, Leonard Njagi said he heard a commotion and went outside to check only to see some people he could not identify fleeing into a nearby maize plantation.
Police said investigations have since been launched, adding that the two suspects who are already in custody will help trace the culprits.
