Hostile Eldoret too hot for CORD ICC rally

Nairobi - CORD will avoid Eldoret Town during a series of rallies planned over the ongoing trial facing Deputy President William Ruto since it is too hostile, it has been revealed.
The coalition has announced that it will host several rallies in Ruto's background starting next weekend as it seeks to explain to the public about the real issues as regards the current trial facing Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang.
This has come as a result of the accusations by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who has accused a number of opposition chiefs for framing Ruto.
The coalition will travel to Kericho, Kapsabet and Nandi amongst other areas but will avoid Eldoret.
It is understood that it will be the case as the hostility levels against the party are said to be currently very high.
" Eldoret has been hostile and because it is an issue to do with the ICC case, which is very touchy in those parts, the rally will not go there," a source close to the organisation of the rallies told News24.
Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and the liaise for the rallies could not comment on the matter when asked about it.
" We are yet to complete the list of places we will go to and until that is done I cannot comment," he stated.
CORD and its leader Raila Odinga has been on a slippery slope as regards support in the Rift, with Raila regarded by many Kalenjins as an enemy following Ruto's admission to the ICC in 2012.
