Nyeri - Nyeri Provincial General Hospital (PGH) has lost property worth millions of shillings following a fire that gutted down a section of its Dental unit.
The fire caught the hospital staff unawares since they do not operate the Dental unit on Sundays.
Eyewitnesses said they just saw huge smoke billowing out of the building, though the cause of the fire could not immediately be established.
"I rushed to the scene to know what was happening only to find the entire dental unit engulfed in flames. I called the firefighters but the damage had already been done,” said a hospital guard.

The County Chief Officer of Health, Dr Peter Munyua said five dental chairs each estimated to cost KES 2 million and Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment including computers were burnt down.
"The rest of the department equipment are safe and at the moment, we have three more dental chairs which will be used to give services to the patients," Munyua added.
He said the five chairs destroyed by the fire had been purchased recently by the County government and had been in use for a very short time.
