Nyeri - Two employees from Othaya hospital were arraigned in a Nyeri court Monday on charges of stealing equipment worth KES 12 million from the hospital.

Patrick Mungai and Milka Wangui were charged that on October 7 at Othaya CDF Hall in Othaya Township, they jointly stole the hospital equipment including computers, printers, scanners and photocopy machines.

They were further charged with giving false information to police officers that the equipment had been stolen.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate Susan Ngugi, the two denied the charges and were released on bonds of KES 1 million each and sureties of similar amount or alternative cash bails of KES 200,000 each.

The equipment had been procured by the government for the health facility.
