Homa Bay governor declares ‘total’ war on HIV/AIDs

Homa Bay - Homa Bay County governor, Cyprian Awiti has called on all stakeholders to declare total war against further spread of HIV/AIDs in the County.
Awiti said the terminal ailment was posing a big challenge in the efforts by both the national and the county government to address spiraling poverty levels and high disease burden in the county.
Speaking at Ligisa trading centre in Rangwe sub-county, Awiti said HIV/AIDs and drug abuse pose great threat to future generations.
He added that Homa Bay County had recorded a high prevalence of 27.1 percent HIV infections with Ndhiwa sub-County being the most ravaged by the scourge.
He said that his government has been engaging the youths in discussions to enhance their participation in wealth creation in the county since 2013.
He said the implementation of the county’s strategic plan 2013-2017 was on course and called on all stakeholders to actively participate in ensuring that the County was a role model to be emulated by other counties across the country.
He welcomed local and foreign investors to invest in the County noting that his government provided a conducive environment for investment in tourism, agriculture, transport and infrastructure, manufacturing, communications, energy, building and construction.
The governor noted that his government had developed an attractive and comprehensive package of incentives to investors adding that the County possessed a deep pool of educated and skilled manpower capable of transforming the County into a manufacturing, commercial and financial hub in the region.For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page!
