High Court stops Moi University closure
08 October 2015, 15:30
Nairobi - The High Court has suspended the closure of Moi University's Law School.
The Court sitting in Nairobi has suspended the closure of the school pending the determination of a case by the University protesting the action to close it.
It had been closed by the Commision for Legal Education saying it did not meet the required threshold for teaching law last week.
Several other universities faced the same ruling.
" The institution is thus declared not suspended and can continue with its operations until the case against the respondent is heard and determined, " Judge George Odunga said Thursday.
The case will be mentioned October 30.
Other institutions closed were Catholic University, and a number of campuses belonging to the University of Nairobi.
