High Court censures IEBC, stalls Homa Bay elections
17 December 2014, 17:06
Nairobi - The High Court has stalled the Homa Bay Senatorial by elections by forcing the IEBC to postpone the deadline for nomination of candidates.
The IEBC had set the date for Friday 19 December to have parties nominate candidates for the poll set for February.
But following the chaotic nomination process for major player ODM, the High Court has decided to nullify the process to allow the party sort itself out.
This follows a petition from supporters who felt that the IEBC had cramped the schedule for no apparent reason.
ODM had already written to the IEBC asking them to postpone the nomination deadline by two weeks to allow them sort themselves out.
The party in the meantime has already decided on using direct nominations to choose their candidate for the elections and who will effectively replace the late Senator Otieno Kajwang.
