Bungoma - A lifeless body of a middle-aged man, who was in police handcuffs, was on Tuesday afternoon found dangling from a tree, near the fence of a hotel in the outskirts of Bungoma town.
A herdsman stumbled upon the body of the unidentified young man, hanged with a belt, a few metres from the busy Eldoret - Malaba Highway in Kanduyi area, and raised an alarm attracting the public.
The deceased was clad in only his undergarments and a T-shirt, fuelling speculations that he might have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped there.
Bungoma South OCPD, Kirunya Limbitu confirmed the incident and said they have launched investigations to unravel the mystery of the man’s murder, whose body the police moved to Bungoma District Hospital mortuary.
“We were alerted by members of the public who were at the scene of the incident. We have began investigations and we will also seek to establish where the handcuffs the deceased man had were from,” the police boss told journalists.
