Nairobi - Former Westlands MP Fred Gumo has said that ODM risk causing themselves problems by sidelining the Luhya community and especially Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba.
The one time powerful minister and politician has called on the party to consider members of the Luhya community or risk losing their support all-together.
Speaking in Nairobi Wednesday, Gumo called on the party to consider Namwamba's concerns or risk losing confidence of Luhya people all-together.
He also dared party leader Raila Odinga to eject Namwamba from the party, saying there will be problems if he does so.
" They should eject him at their own cost, he said. He (Ababu) has a point made in that there is no democracy in the party, he added.
He also insisted that if there is further frustration from within, the Luhya vote will go elsewhere.
" Luhya's are a big part ofd the party and offered huge support during the last election. If there is any issue, we will move to another party or form our own united front, he added.
On issues referendum, Gumo insisted that there was just no need for a referendum at the moment.
" I haven't seen any reason for a referendum. How does it solve
corruption, insecurity? We need to sober ourselves as we seek solutions, he said.
Another group of ODM MPs had Wednesday called on ODM to hold elections or risk losing support in the party.
MPs John Waluke (Sirisia) Silverse Anami (Shinyalu) Chris Omulele (Luanda) Rachel Ameso (Kakamega Women Representative) Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West) and Charles Geni (North Mugirango) said that they would also reconsider their status in the party unless issues like the botched elections are addressed.
" There is room for agreement and disagreement within a party and so we want the leaders to listen to the concerns of our brother Ababu, Waluke said at Parliament buildings also Wednesday.
Ababu had claimed Monday that he had been sidelined from the party top brass because he was not Luo and insinuated that party leader Odinga wants an all Luo line-up at top brass level.
