Gumbo: Stop blaming Oswago for CORD’s loss in polls
19 May 2014, 08:16
Rarieda - Rarieda MP, Nicholas Gumbo has faulted those blaming suspended Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer, James Oswago, for CORD’s loss in 2013’s presidential elections.
The MP said Oswago was on record to have pointed out long before the polls that voter registration was low in CORD strongholds, but no action was taken.
“It is therefore absurd that the people who dismissed Oswago’s statement are now accusing him of many wrongs”, Gumbo told the press in his Constituency.
He maintained that CORD presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, lost because of low voter registration and poor turn out in his strongholds as compared to those for Jubilee.
Gumbo has therefore told politicians accusing Oswago of the loss, to stop the blames and mobilize their people to register as voters in large numbers ahead of the 2017 elections.
