Green army invades Mumias town

25 June 2012, 12:12Onyango Alfred

The always tranquil Mumias town became unusually lively as K'ogallo diehards thronged in to cheer their team. As early as 7.00 am the town was already colonized by green and white K'ogallo jerseys.

The business people were happy as they made their cash. Be it the boda boda, hoteliers, taxi drivers, hawkers amongst others were happy as they exploited the opportunity which only comes once in a blue moon.

Everyone had a brilliant face as they waited for the much anticipated game.

Fans traveled form all corners of the nation; from as far as Migori to Mumias complex to support their team.

At 3.00pm the match awaited game kicked off. Logarusic boys started with much ego unleashing missiles to the Western Stima side but Ben Mandela would not allow them through the bars.

However, after 15 minutes Omino's boy's were settled and managed to contain pressure from the their opponents. They became airtight as each side proved their worth in the league. Western Stima had not managed to electrocute the Green army and neither did the K'ogallo side manage to tame them.

The second half was a little different and after Antony Akumu came in they managed to controll the ball and supply it upfront which saw their new recruit Joseph Njuguna netting the ball after which another new recruit Dan Serukuma netted the second goal. Dan also managed to give the host a consolation goal after getting penalty. The match ended 2-1 with K'ogallo blocking Western Stima from accessing their milk.

After the match the delighted fans sang the K'ogallo anthem as they celebrated in town. Despite the host losing three points at least they had something to smile about after the visiting fans spent their cash in town.
