Governors urged to join CORD in their push for referendum

01 September 2014, 13:14 Wilshere

Nakuru - Nakuru County Assembly Minority Leader, Daniel Ambale has said that governors are not genuine in their push for a referendum.

Ambale said that the Pesa Mashinani campaign by the governors will not help address the main challenges the country is facing.

“They are only after money from the national government,” he said.

Speaking to the media Monday morning, Ambale said that Cord is the only coalition that is advocating for good governance for Kenyans.

He said that the calls for referendum by Cord are timely since there are numerous things that are not going right.

Ambale has urged Kenyans not to be so quick to dismiss the opposition's calls for referendum saying they have a right to air their grievances.

“This is the perfect time the country should hold this referendum. Kenyans should not dismiss the opposition without listening to them,” he said.

He further challenged the governors to drop their push for referendum and join forces with Cord.

Ambale said that shortage of money at the grassroots level is not the only issue ailing the country adding that a lot of things in the constitution are yet to be implemented.

However, he was quick to warn his fellow MCAs not to be easily lured by the two parties over the referendum debate.
