Governor to introduce single business permit
01 July 2013, 14:19
In a bid to attract more investors to Nyeri County, Governor Nderitu Gachagua on Saturday said his government will enact legislation for a single business permit.
Gachagua said with such a legislation, traders will be able to develop and implement their business ideas swiftly adding that all licenses will be acquired in a ‘one stop shop’.
He lamented that traders have been spending a lot of time looking for licenses and permits, something he said could be retarding development in the region.
The Governor made the remarks during the launch of new brand of maize flour ‘DABO’ by the Anchor Millers Company in King’ong’o area on the fringes of Nyeri town.
According to Gachagua, the move will attract more investors to the region and trim the process of acquiring trade licenses.
He lauded the Company (Anchor Group) for showing the potential within the Nyeri business sector saying unemployment will be solved through industrialization.
The company’s CEO Peter Mahu said they have employed 500 people and are processing about 8 tonnes of maize per day as he assured local farmers of a market for their farm produce.
