Governor optimistic that Govt release 40 percent to counties soon

28 July 2014, 21:46 Joseph Njung’eh

Nyeri - Governor Nderitu Gachagua is optimistic that the Jubilee government will start releasing 40 per cent of the national revenue to the counties.

Gachagua said that the Council of Governors has also agreed that the funds will rise to 40 per cent so that more developments can be quickly initiated at the grass root level.

“I know President Uhuru Kenyatta is also supporting this initiative very much. This was the promise they made to Kenyans. We are very much assured of it,” said the governor.

Gachagua said after the government achieves this, the President will silence his detractors who have been complaining that the funds trickling down to the county is little.

The governor spoke at Kiangengi Primary School in Mathira constituency after he unveiled a Shs1.5 million ablution blocks.

The ablution was built by the governor’s brother Rigathi Gachagua who had initially visited the school and found that hygiene level was very low.
