Mombasa County governor Hassan Joho escaped a robbery incident at Nyali golf club last night.
Four men armed with AK 47 rifles attacked the club a few minutes after the governor had just left the club in the company of his bodyguards.
Joho had to return back to the club where he is also a member after he was informed of the incident.
Speaking to journalists after the attack, Joho described the incident as just a normal robbery cooling fears that he might have been the target of the attack.
The gang managed to steal 5 phones, over KES 20 000 and a wrist watch from members who were present at the club during the incident.
Police have launched a massive investigation into the matter.
