Governor denies cohabiting with female bishop

Nyandarua - Nyandarua County Governor, Daniel Waithaka has dismissed rumours in a section of the media that he visited the home of a female bishop in with whom he is allegedly to have an affair on Monday night.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Governor Waithaka was flushed out by a group of boda boda riders who stormed the home of the said clergy in Kinangop.
While addressing the media in his Ol’Kalou town office, Waithaka said that he was shocked by the false reports claiming that an angry crowd stormed the home of Bishop Rahab Muthoni of GECK Church in Engineer town claiming he was holed up there for unknown reasons.
“I wish to state categorically that at no time was I in the vicinity of Bishop Rahab’s compound as claimed by some media house. This report is not only evil and satanic, it is malicious and calculated to malign my character and social standing,” the Governor said.
The angry Governor said he was at his Nyahururu home “sleeping in my wife’s house” when the crowd stormed the bishop’s home at 10.00 PM to “flush” him out. He insisted the crowd must have been sent by his political enemies with an ulterior motive.

“Why would a crowd of people storm the bishop’s house yelling and shouting that I leave the compound yet I was nowhere in sight?” posed the Governor.
He singled out the area journalists who reported the alleged love affair saying they were of questionable character and did not deserve to work anywhere in Kenya.
“Journalism is about the truth and fairness. What these reporters wrote amounts to nothing but yellow journalism which has no place anywhere in the 21st century,” the Governor said.
Governor Waithaka demanded an apology from the responsible journalist saying he was thinking of filing a defamation suit.
“We cannot allow a situation where journalists decide to use their pens recklessly to destroy the County and its leadership,” he added, wondering why the reporters rushed to file the reports without seeking for his comment.
Later on Wednesday evening, the Governor led a group of women in a protest demanding an apology from the media house that published the report.
However, a neighbor to the said female clergy and who didn’t want to be named for security reasons told News24 that everybody in the area is aware that the Governor has been cohabiting with the bishop.
“The Governor’s vehicle has been visiting the neighborhood three or two times a week especially over the weekends. So there is nothing to hide,” the source revealed.
