Bomet - A section of Members of the County Assembly of Bomet have defended the county governor Isaac Ruto over misappropriation of funds.
Speaking at a Narok hotel, the twenty MCAs said Ruto had been executing his duties in accordance with the constitution and those accusing him of misappropriation are misguided.
Led by the leaders of majority in the County Assembly Josphat Kirui, they absolved the governor of any wrong doing saying the report by the Auditor General was inaccurate.
“Our governor has never misused any coin. Those accusing him are not being realistic and we hereby challenge them to substantiate their claims,” said Kirui.
Kirui maintained that as representatives of the people, they are the ones mandated to oversee the operations of county governments and castigated senators for usurping responsibilities that are not theirs.
On his part, the leader of the minority in the county Assembly John Chumo called on leaders to put aside their differences and work together in order to better the lives of the electorate.
Chepkwony further noted that as leaders from the county they fully support implementation of devolution.
