Machakos - Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua Wednesday suspended four county officers for laxity.
In a statement, Mutua said he was shocked to find heaped garbage dumps during an unscheduled tour of the Machakos City suburbs, contrary to the policy of his government.
He said their deputies will act in their positions during the suspension period as the County Secretary initiates disciplinary measures that will be taken against the four officers.
The suspended officers are Patrick Manthi, the Machakos Town Sub County’s Administrator, Muema Wambua, the County’s Director of Garbage Collection and Disposal Directorate, Paul Mutunga, the Machakos Town Garbage Collection Manager, and Jackson Mutuku, the Supervisor of the garbage area of Machakos CBS-Eastleigh section.

“They have been suspended for dereliction of duty and not keeping to Machakos County Government’s Policy of a clean and garbage free environment. There is no reason for any part of Machakos County to be dirty.
Already, the County is the cleanest in Kenya and we will ensure Wananchi receive the services they deserve,” he added.
He said lethargy and laziness in his government will not be tolerated in any of the departments and that residents need to see value of their taxes and their government at work.
