Nairobi - The government has information on poaching syndicates and is acting on a formula of taking it down, environment secretary Judy Wakhungu has said.
Poaching has grown ten fold in the country in the last one year with increasing numbers of wild animals being killed for their horns.
Rhino's and Elephants have been most affected, with a worrying number of animals being killed.
There has been a stern message on poaching and poachers by the government which has been delivered but to no avail.
Most recently in his state of the nation address, president Uhuru Kenyatta spoke tough on poaching and said the government would take action on the matter.
And in her speech during the cabinet briefs on the first year in office, professor Wakhungu insisted that there is progress made on dealing with the vice.
" We have information on international poaching syndicates and their local counterparts and we will be knocking on their doors soon.
" The government has a plan that will be implemented in due course and which will kill off poaching once and for all, she added.
There have been reports of well linked personalities in the country promoting poaching but the cabinet secretary could not offer much information.
" So far we have leads but we have to wait for investigations to be concluded, she added.
