Nairobi - The government has deported 82 Somali nationals and has more planned in the pipeline, Interior Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku has said.
According to Ole Lenku, the deportations have been done in conjunction with the Somali government and that there are close to 500 more in custody.
He further added that the government has used the Kasarani Stadium as a detention centre within the law and that everything has been done within the books.
" We have deported 82 and have 472 in detention, he said in Nairobi Wednesday.
Reports on the ground though have indicated that there are more than 2,000 detainees at the Kasarani Stadium but Ole Lenku rubbished the rumours.
" These are the official numbers at the moment and it could rise or reduce depending on what we pick up on the ground, he added.
