Mombasa - The government has declared a tough war on all illegal gangs operating within Mombasa County and threatening national security.
Mombasa county security chiefs have announced that they will carry out both land and air patrol surveillance through the use of helicopters which will be patrolling the whole of Mombasa county hotspots within the county to fish out criminals.
Mombasa county commissioner, Nelson Marwa has said the government will do all it takes to combat crime in the county.
Marwa said it was emerging that criminal gangs like the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) were regrouping, warning that no one will be spared once convicted.
“I want to tell you that we have all it takes to maintain security in this county and the entire coastal region; we have three helicopters that will patrol everywhere to fish out all criminals," said Marwa.
Marwa has said police in Mombasa are tracking two individuals who have had been terrorising locals using a motorbike.
His remarks came a day after a Russian tourist was killed by unknown assailants at Fort Jesus.
He said that police have so far arrested one person in connection with the killing, and that he is assisting police with investigations.
