Nairobi - The government has been banned from executing the destruction of alcoholic products belonging to the Kenya Breweries LTD.
The directive was issued at the High Court in Nairobi Wednesday after the company filed a complaint against the government over the destruction of its legally accepted products.
The directive followed the call by President Uhuru Kenyatta who called on Kenyans last week to take action on second generation brews killing Kenyans.
Kenyans, especially those in Central Kenya then went on a rampage, destroying even drinks that were legal in the eyes of the law.
KBL said that it had already lost property worth millions of shillings and expected the government to stop the public action from taking place.
" This order bars the destruction of products owned by the complainant," the order addressed to the Cabinet Secretary CS for Interior and Inspector General of Police IG of Police said.
The President has since ordered Kenyans not to destroy products that are not illegal and stop the destruction of property of law aiding individuals.
