Nyeri - A 19-year-old girl form four candidate at Muirungi Mixed Secondary School in Othaya, Nyeri County is sitting for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary school Examination (KCSE) in hospital after she gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday night.
Hellen Wangechi Wangari delivered the 3.1 kilograms baby at Othaya District Hospital where she was rushed after developing labour pains while at home.
She delivered at 9.30pm moments after she arrived at the hospital, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent Martin Mwangi said.
“Hellen arrived at the hospital escorted by her mother and she had a normal delivery. For now she is breastfeeding well and is in stable condition. We are monitoring her health condition before discharging her,"said doctor Mwangi.
He said Hellen was sitting for exams in the hospital under supervision of officers, an invigilator and a guard from the examinations council.
