Geothermal Marathon Launched

The Geothermal Development Company - GDC has launched the inaugural geothermal Menengai half marathon scheduled to take place on Sunday November 11th 2012 in Nakuru county.
The event which is expected to attract over 5000 participants in 4 different categories is expected to give chance to more upcoming athletes to show case their prowess.
GDC general manager dr. Peter Omenda who represented the CEO said that GDC wants to give budding athletes an opportunity to discover their prowess and power the dreams of veterans within Nakuru county and beyond.
Athletics Kenya vice president lt. rtd Jackson Tuwei said that they had decided to associate with GDC in a bid to propel kenya into the international limelight.
He said that they are aiming to have the event held annually so that more great world beaters can be born out of the Rift Valley region.
He reiterated the need to ensure that talent is natured since if not given an opportunity to grow, talents get wasted.
The half marathon will start at Majitamu academy in Bahati and finish at St. Joseph Kirima secondary in the same locality totalling 21km.
Besides the 21km race, there will be competition for 10km and a fun for 5 kms.
