Garissa police chiefs suspended in terror investigation

Nairobi - Top police bosses incharge of Garissa County have been suspended from duty over the deadly Garissa University terror attack that saw 148 people killed.
The officers, numbering seven were suspended Tuesday by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery over the shoddy handling of the attack and especially the run up to it.
Ernest Munyi, Njenga Miiri, Musa Yego, Benjamin Ongombe as well as other officers were suspended by Nkaissery to facilitate investigations into the matter.
They have been suspended after it emerged that there were loopholes exploited by the terrorists that the security apparatus in the region that they knew about in advance.
The Garissa attackers were alleged to have spent a few nights in a Garissa hotel before executing the attack and it is alleged that their artillery arrived in the town in the knowledge of police officers.
It has also been alleged by junior police officers that they had the intelligence at the desks of their bosses but it was not acted upon.
