Garissa Governor to face graft charge, says DPP
02 July 2015, 17:11
Nairobi - Garissa Governor Nadhif Jama will face corruption charges after the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP approved accusations made against him.
Tobiko said that evidence provided by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision condemning him was enough to push for a case.
" Having independently reviewed the file, I agree with EACC that there
is sufficient evidence disclosed against the Governor and other country
officials and therefore directed that prosecutions should ensue as
recommended by EACC," Tobiko said Thursday.
Jama alongside other County officials is accused of leasing ambulances from the Emergency Plus Medical
Services Ltd which is owned by the Kenya Red Cross Society.
When he arrives in court, Jama will be the first Governor to be charged over graft in the history of the country.
10 other Governors are also being probed in investigations by the EACC but others are yet to be mentioned.
