Gang raids Women Rep's home

Trans Nzoia County Women representative Janet Nangabo Saturday night escaped unhurt after gangsters raided her home at Milimani estate in Kitale.
The 11 AM incident took place few minutes after she arrived from Kitale Club where she was attending a meeting organised by County leaders.
Her son said that he saw people armed with AK 47 riffles entering the compound through the fence immediately after opening the gate for her mother, prompting him to raise alarm.
“I saw armed men sneaking into the compound while opening gate for my mother. I raised alarm forcing them to retreat as they thought my mother had bodyguards,” he narrated.
Addressing the media Sunday afternoon, Nangabo said it was terrifying that criminals had up scaled their game saying that the gangsters who raided her home were heavily armed and cut the fence using sophisticated equipment.
She said she was able to call police officers from Kitale police station who arrived late after the criminals had left saying that a Police reservist officer who was guarding a property next to her house was the only person who responded in time but was unable to arrest the gangsters as they escaped using motor bikes.
She urged all those who are mandated to provide security for the residents to change their plan accusing them of taking long to arrest criminals who have been attacking and killing residents.
“Security agents should beef up security in the County as criminals have now started targeting leaders and businessmen. This should not be allowed to continue,” she said.
Confirming the incident, Kitale OCPD James Mitugo said that they are following leads to arrest those responsible, urging the area residents to volunteer information.
“People need to share information to help security officers arrest all those engaging in these acts,” he said.
The incident comes barely a month after a KPR officer was shot dead in the same estate by armed men while responding to a distress call after his neighbour's home was raided.
