Gachagua: Don’t compare me with Machakos Governor

18 December 2013, 16:00 Joseph Njung’eh

Nyeri - Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua has asked his constituents not to compare his County with Machakos County.

He said development plans and goals across the counties cannot be similar and vowed to stick to his whatsoever.

Though Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua, is perceived to be among the top performing governors, Gachagua said his government is also working and a lot of strategies aiming to develop his County have been laid down.

He stated that Nyeri is in the highlands and far from the capital city, Nairobi, while Machakos is close to be a desert and about 40 Kilometres from Nairobi.

Gachagua was responding to residents who were pressing him on Social media during the launch of the Machakos City asking which plans he had for the County.

He said that a lot of complaints and questions were lodged on his social media accounts some seeking explanations on development agenda and others praising Mutua for his mega project.

However, while addressing a business community meeting at Green Hills Hotel, Gachagua reiterated that his County is an agricultural devoted area, thus most of his plans are centered on the same.

He noted that agriculture is the region’s main economic activity and most of households rely on it for income therefore he must improve it.

Most governors, Gachagua noted, are working to meet the needs of their respective residents and have a common goal of development though in different ways.
