GOtv leads in Digital Migration, poll says

Nairobi - GOtv leads in number of set top boxes reach in the country, a pollster has said.
The pollster Ipsos Synovate, in the survey carried out in the early days of this month February 2015, announced that the Multichoice owned provider leads the way in the country among those with set top boxes.
GOtv with 37% of the national cake according to the poll.
Controversy ridden Chinese firm Star Times is second at 23% with the oldest pay TV firm in Kenya, DStv is at 20% and Zuku at 16%.
Independent set top box vendors have 5% of the national cake.
Also according to the poll, 35% of Kenyans have migrated to Digital.
The migration process has been ridden with contention from three local media houses, the Nation Media Group, Standard Group and the Royal Media Services who also want to have their own set top boxes in the market.
They are expected to unveil their own boxes by next month.
At the moment, they are off air, with the analogue signal having been switched off by the Communications Authority of Kenya.
The three media houses, under the stations NTV, KTN, Citizen TV and QTV claim to have the biggest viewership in the country at the moment.
