Migori - The death of a 19-year-old school dropout has caused anxiety and rage at Nyikendo village, Suna East Constituency in Migori County.
The body of Joyce Esomanga Legam was fished out of a clinic two days ago after being suspected to have attempted to procure an abortion in the hands of a medical quack.
On Wednesday, the deceased’s village was engulfed in protests from angry relatives and residents even as police reported that they had arrested two suspects involved in the incident.
Migori OCPD, Moses Chepyegon, said the suspects who are being held at the Migori Police station would be arraigned in court soon after investigations are complete.

According to the police, the girl who was living with her parents was pregnant and had disappeared since January 2, before her lifeless body was later discovered in the clinic.
Cases of teenage girls being lured by quacks and unethical doctors into private clinics to procure abortions have been on the increase in the area in the recent past.
At least five young girls have lost their lives through this illegal medical practice and religious leaders from the region are now asking the government to move fast and curb the vice.
Pastor Lawrence Onyango of Migori PAG church said it is immoral for anybody to try to terminate life of a human being at any stage in life.
“Justice has always been defeated in many cases where perpetrators of this vice are left to walk scot-free,” he lamented.
