Four night guards were on Tuesday arraigned in a Nyeri court for four counts of theft at their employer's hospital.
Joseph Nderitu, Linus Ndung’u, Simon Nyaga and Patrick Muthee were charged that on the night of November 30 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Nyeri County, they jointly broke into the house of Sister Jane Wangechi and stole her Toshiba laptop and KES 39 400 cash all amounting to KES 85 400.
In the second count they were accused that being night guards of the hospital, they failed to prevent the theft that took place in the house of Wangechi on the said date.
The four were further charged that on the said night at the same hospital, they broke into the hospital’s administration office and stole a computer monitor worth KES 20 000 and property belonging to the hospital.
In the fourth count they were accused of failing to prevent the theft at the hospital office.
The four however denied the charges before Chief magistrate Wilbrodah Juma who released them on KES 30 000 bond each with surety of the same amount.
The case hearing will be on January 13.
