Nairobi - Four gangsters were Friday afternoon shot dead in Nairobi's South C area following a police operation.
The four were ambushed by police along Mombasa road near Bel-e-vue cinema grounds and shot dead by Flying Squad Officers.
It is alleged that the four were trailed by police all the way from Ongata Rongai town and are believed to be behind the increased robberies and car-jackings in the area.
Police boss Benson Kibue said that police have trailed the four for a while now and that it was good news to see the back of them.
" We have trailed them for a long time now and it was time they were caught, he said.
Police recovered two pistols and other home made explosives on the gangsters.
There have been increased police operations in the city and country at large following the increased cases of lawlessness and insecurity in recent months.
Kibue added that the operations would continue until most of the gangs in the city are eradicated.
