Four gangsters lynched in Bungoma

Bungoma - Four suspected gangsters who unsuccessfully tried to hijack a businessman on Saturday evening were lynched by angry residents of Kikwechi Village in Bungoma County.
The incensed residents handed over to police one AK 47 rifle and 14 rounds of ammunition which were in the possession of the suspected gangsters.
The four thugs are said to have waylaid the businessman, who was on his way back to Bungoma from Chwele, along the Kikwechi- Mayanja section. As they tried robbing the man, he cried for help attracting hordes of passers-by and villagers who subjected them to mob justice.
Bungoma County Administration Police commandant, Paul Soi confirmed the incident, and said patrols have been intensified in the County to ensure that residents are safe.
“Security agents are on high alert; we are only appealing to members of the public to cooperate with us and give us any information on people they suspect are criminals,” Soi told journalists.
Kikwechi Village was in the news in April last year after over 50 people were hacked by unknown machete-wielding gang. Several people were hospitalized with serious injuries after the attacks.
The latest incident comes barely a week after another incident where police gunned downed a suspected gangster who alongside others robbed an MPESA shop in Bungoma town.
