Kericho - Police in Kericho have a Somalian man in custody for allegedly disappearing from the Lagdera refugee camp.
The county police commander, Rose Muchuma says the suspect was on his way to Busia when he was arrested at the Chagaik Road block in the outskirts of Kericho town.
According to Muchuma, the 25-year-old man was found with documents showing that he ought to have been at the Lagdera refugee camp.
The man who only speaks Somali was also found with hospital referral documents and was supposed to receive medication at the KNH but instead opted to proceed to Busia.
“Our officers at the Chagaik road block stopped a bus that was on its way to Busia from Nairobi and upon searching it, found the man who is supposed to be at the refugee camp,” noted Muchuma.
She said that police in the region had beefed up patrols and further assured residents of their security.
In Narok, area deputy police boss Paul Cheruiyot confirmed the arrest of three Ugandans for allegedly indulging in illegal businesses in the area.
Confirming the arrests, Cheruiyot noted that the suspects had been extorting money from unsuspecting residents under the pretext that they will pray for them over various problems including impotency.
Skins, hair, heads of chicken and other items believed to be used by the three in their trade were found in the suspects’ residence in the Majengo area.
