Nyeri - A man who worked as a senior security officer at a private wildlife sanctuary has been shot dead along Nyeri-Karatina road near Nyeri town.
Benson Kimani was shot more than 10 times by armed gunmen, dying on the spot.
He had just dropped a team of journalists who had hired his Toyota Fielder Car to cover several events within the County.
The incident left the entire media fraternity in shock, since the deceased was also the husband of an Inooro FM Reporter.
During the Saturday evening incident, Kimani was driving home at Skuta Estate when he was accosted by the gunmen who were on a different car behind him.

Journalists from different media houses have been hiring his car while on assignments outside the town centre, since Kimani was on long leave.
The driver's side of the grey Toyota Fielder car had 10 clear bullet marks and the front right tyre was punctured.
Nyeri Central OCPD, Charles Rotich told reporters that police collected three spent cartridges at the scene of crime, saying that investigations had began.
“We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to come and talk to us to help unravel the incident,” Rotich added.
The incident also caused protests and fury on social media, with some pointing an accusing finger at agencies.
