Nyeri - A Form one student from Endarasha High School in Nyeri County was admitted at the Outspan Hospital in critical condition after he was badly injured on the head by a javelin during games at the school.
The student was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the private hospital following the Wednesday evening incident.
Nyeri county executive for Education, Elijah Nguyo dismissed allegations that the boy was being bullied by the other students.
“Actually, it was an accident since the student was with his colleagues and teachers in the field. Let nobody say it was bullying,” he said.
The county government has since sent an official to the school which is based in Kieni West sub-county to compile a report on the incident.
“Several people have recorded statements including teachers and students who witnessed the incident. The particular student who had thrown the javelin at that time has also said it was an accident,” said the executive.
He added that the boy is still at ICU after several scans, but in stable condition.
