Form four student commits suicide

25 June 2012, 16:19Anthony Muriuki

Police in Imenti South District on Saturday recovered a body of a form four student from Gikurune Boys Secondary School in Igoji location who committed suicide by hanging himself inside his house.

Area police chief Leah Kithei confirmed that the deceased Royford Muthuri, 18 years old hanged himself with a rope in his home  in Mukuone village at around 11am yesterday morning.

“The body was found dangling on the roof of the house the student did not leave a suicide note but we have launched investigations to establish why he had to kill himself,” said Kithei.

The OCPD said the deceased was ill before the incident occurred and was still recovering at home after being discharged from Chogoria mission hospital where he was admitted.

According the deceased mother Ida Nkanata  she had left his son under the care of his younger sister before she left for the coffee plantation when the tragedy occurred.

She said on realizing her brother had entered the house and locked himself from the inside the sister rushed to alert the mother who arrived and found her son hanging from the roof.

The civic leader Paul Kireria said the boy was one of the brightest students and got depressed after getting sick and failing to attend classes during this term.

The two urged residents to embrace dialogue and consultations with experts and shun taking their lifes because such incidents brings more misery and unnecessary suffering to the surverving family members.
