Nyandarua - There was drama at Gwa Kahii village in Nyandarua County after angry mourners torched the house of a murder suspect before the funeral ceremony.
The mourners who were carrying a casket containing the remains of Samuel Githinji Wambugu, who was murdered on Friday last week, stormed the home of David Nyaga who was arrested in connection with the murder and burned his house.
After the ordeal, the irate mourners barricaded the busy Nyahururu-Gilgil highway in protest and engaged police in running battles as they tried to disperse the crowd.
Nyandarua North OCPD, Benjamin Onsongo said they arrested five people in connection with the riots, adding that it was wrong for residents to take the law into their hands.
