Five drug traffickers arrested in Kilifi

Kilifi - There was drama at Kibaoni bus stage in Kilifi town along the Mombasa-Malindi highway Monday morning after five suspected drug traffickers were arrested amid protests by touts and other consumers of the drugs.
An administration police van emerged suddenly at the stage and surrounded a den known for drug trafficking.
Over 10 people suspected to be customers and who were smoking bhang managed to escape but the five traffickers were unlucky as they were arrested before they could quickly remove the drugs from their hideouts.

At least two gun shots were fired in the air to disperse the swelling crowd at the busy stage before the suspects were whisked away in the police van.
Kilifi OCPD, Justine Nyaga said the police acted on a tip by members of the public and managed to arrest the five suspects whom he said would be arraigned in court to face trial.
He urged members of the public to continue volunteering information to the police on suspected criminals so they could be apprehended.
