“The driver of the lorry which was coming from Eldoret seemed to have lost control and that’s when it hit the other lorry which was approaching from Nakuru,” she said.
The Traffic Commandant said that there was possibility that the track driver who caused the accident was asleep at the time of the accident.
She said that police are still conducting more investigation into the matter to ascertain the real cause of the accident.
“So far, its not clear what might have happened here but we are still carrying out more investigations to know exactly who was at fault,” she said.
Police at the scene of the accident had a difficult time controlling traffic and curious onlookers who had visited the scene.
The five bodies of the causalities were taken to Nakuru General Hospital morgue while the wreckage of the two Lorries was towed to Nakuru central police station.
However, some road users operating along the highway blamed the traffic police for only concentrating in collecting bribes while neglecting the safety of road users.
