04 April 2013, 15:04
Students of Karama boys High school in Tigania East district have been sent home after a fire razed down a twin dormitory at
their school early Wednesday.
Tigania District Commissioner
Mwangi Meru confirmed the incident saying the fire came barely two
days after another fire burnt down a dormitory of St Cyprian boys High school.
He said boys had gone for their breakfast
when the fire broke out confirming that nothing was salvaged from the dormitory
although no injuries were reported.
Beds, mattresses, boxes, shoes, bags and clothes as well as other personal effects were reduced to ashes.
said although the cause of the inferno and exact value of damage had
not been established, they suspected the students were involved in the incident.
He said the dormitories were semi permanent and hosted 120 boys whose belongings all perished in the fire.
The DC however said police have launched investigations into the incident with the aim of arresting the suspects.
