Nyeri - A female representative in the national assembly has revealed that all female MPs are working on a bill that will ensure they run their own social development funds.
Priscillah Nyokabi of Nyeri County said they too want to manage funds since the MPs are managing constituency development funds (CDF).
Speaking over the weekend in Nyeri, Nyokabi said both Jubilee and CORD members are in support of the bill and will be tabled once the parliament resumes from recess.
According to the politician, the fund is aimed to benefit projects initiated by women, youth and people with disabilities.
“The funds will also help fight drug and substance abuse, illicit brews and establish and enhance adult education programmes in the counties. It will run parallel to the CDF,” said Nyokabi noting that many senior citizens have shown interest of continuing with education.
She further urged women and youth in her county to form groups in order to benefit from the Uwezo fund which she said will be disbursed through groups.
