A female Kenyan climber who has been chosen from a short list of five Kenyan climbers to Climb Mount Everest in 2014 will be announced this Saturday at the Hilton Hotel. There was a rigorous selection process, culminating in a climb
of Mount Kenya from the 14th-19th July.
This is part of an initiative by Expedition Everest, a campaign to raise $500,000 for
Flying Kites, an organization dedicated to providing exceptional education to
orphaned children in Kenya. In addition, the campaign aims to set an example
for the children of Flying Kites, and the children of Kenya, that any goal is
attainable if you dare to start and are determined to finish.
The Expedition Everest team is comprised of two climbers:
Toby Storie-Pugh, founder and director of Flying Kites and and a Kenyan mountaineer
who will be chosen on Saturday 21 July 2012 following a selection process on
the slopes of Mt. Kenya. This climber would be the first Kenyan mountaineer to
summit the world's highest mountain.
