Mombasa - Panic, fear and a state of confusion has engulfed the Likoni commercial sex workers fraternity following the sudden death of their colleague who died in unclear circumstances.
The sudden death that occurred on Monday evening and discovered on Tuesday is believed to have involved a client of the lady, only identified as Wairimu.
The body of the deceased was discovered in her apartment in Soweto area of Likoni on Tuesday Morning by curious neighbors who went looking for her after she failed to show up by 10am.
Police believe that the her death was caused by a strained force that was used on her neck after heavy injury marks were identified on the deceased’s throat, probably causing her to chock to death.
Neighbors who saw her on Monday said that she went home at around 4pm accompanied by a man they had never seen before and whom she introduced as her cousin, something they are used to every time she brought a new client.
They said that they heard laughs from her room that night, and after about 30 minutes the man left the house with a TV set that was wrapped with a curtain.
The neighbors did not see her again until Tuesday when they found her cold, naked dead body lying on the bed.
Speaking at the scene of the incidence, the Likoni police OCS, Juma said that police were working to arrest the suspected murderer of the deceased.
Juma said that police are not going to rest and see innocent people’s lives brought to an end in the such an undignified manner.
He urged residents of Likoni to give information that can help police offer them security services that are up to standards.
The body of the deceased is at the Coast General Morgue awaiting postmortem.
